A basic obedience foundation is recommended before starting the Adventure program. If your dog doesn't have one yet, we can build it into the program or recommend starting with our Obedience program first. During your consultation, we'll evaluate your dog and recommend the best path.
Safety is built into every step of our process. We never rush off-leash work. Your dog is progressively proofed in increasingly challenging environments, and we don't move forward until each stage is solid. The e-collar provides a reliable communication line at distance, and we teach emergency protocols for unexpected situations.
No. Modern e-collars are communication tools, not punishment devices. We use high-quality e-collars at very low levels that feel like a gentle tap or vibration. Your dog is carefully conditioned to understand what the stimulation means before any off-leash work begins. We'll also train you to use it correctly during turnover.
Most dogs can achieve reliable off-leash behavior with proper training. That said, some breeds have stronger prey drives or independent tendencies that may require more training time. We'll give you an honest assessment during the evaluation and set realistic goals for your specific dog and breed.
